The village of Samae San is a “mecca” for fishing, located more than two hours drive from Bangkok, South Pattaya, it’s not very far from Rayong. Poom, a friend from Bangkok offered me to discover the place. Difficult to find affordable accommodations, in this region, no white “farangs’ tourist, here. The Thais come with the family. This speaks for itself : very large places with several bedrooms.
Samae San is charming, we find here the fishing boats of Burmese people, they live in families on their boats, they are poor and do not really have permission to tread on the territory. Fishing, mainly squids, the lamparo fishing at night.
The National Park Khao Chamao is located east of Samae San, more than one hour away. Rather small, compared to Khao Yai or Khaen Krachan, it has only one main road, along a river with waterfalls, a bit like Erawan, but less spectacular, especially since we are no longer in the rainy season.
I was surprised to see a big lizard, like an Iguana, climbing stealthily along a sapling, it is actually Physignatus Cocincinus, also called water dragon of the Agamidae family, it’s a distant cousin of the American green Iguana.
The Mahseer barb, a fish from the Cyprinidae family (carp and goldfish) is present, in mass at the edge of the river, it does not hesitate to leave the water, as much as 10 centimeters or more, to feed itself, on the bank !!!!
